在活动现场，消防员叔叔详尽地阐释了各类消防器材的用途，从常见的灭火器，到专业的破拆工具，乃至具体的使用方法，让人眼界大开。
搜救犬训练科目令人叹为观止，它们精准地遵循训导员的指令，持续挑战自身极限，着实令人钦佩。众多参与此次活动的搜救犬都曾在天津港爆炸、甘肃地震等事故现场协助训导员出色地完成救援搜救任务。当小记者询问倘若遇到危险，搜救犬心生胆怯该如何是好时，救援队领导表示，一旦搜救犬感到害怕，训导员会蹲下身来予以陪伴和安抚。这一回应给大家带来了诸多启迪。
在消防车展示环节，高达 101 米的云梯车能够救援身处 30 层楼高的市民，升至最高处仅需 9 分钟。经由消防员的讲解，小记者还知晓了双头消防车主要应用于隧道救援，原因在于隧道内无法掉转车头。
各项体验项目亦是丰富多样——水枪喷水、打绳结，模拟 119 报警、心脏按压抢救……特别是在试穿消防员服装时，小记者深切地感受到消防员出警时必须分秒必争。在消防员叔叔的协助下，小记者耗费了将近 3 分钟才穿戴完毕，而消防员的标准要求是在 30 秒内完成，足见其平日里训练的严苛程度。
此次 119 开放日活动，为新华小记者呈上了一堂鲜活而深刻的消防课，不但充实了消防知识，更是在小记者的心中播撒下了消防安全的种子。
